She was a member of the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in
She was always an invited guest for Randy Perry (gospel recording artist)
whenever he was performing in this area; a former assistant for Gibson County
Probation Office; a former first aid coordinator for the local Civil Defense, a
former member of the Home Economics Chorus and former 4-H leader for more than
45 years. She had the distinction of Mayor Bob Hurst's declaration of Armelia Speed Day in the city of
Survivors include her three children, Charles Speed, Jr. and wife, Sue of
Indianapolis, Sharon Glass and husband, Harold of Wichita, Kan., Patty Lasley and husband, Martin of Princeton; Patty and Martin
were her primary caregivers; a special friend-sister, Anna Mae Alvis of Princeton; 13 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; several great great-
grandchildren; three nieces, Mary Hardiman, Gloria Portee, Janelle Smith; and special friends, Cedric and
Charlotte Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Addie and
Harlan Crowe; a son, Larry Speed; two sisters, Thelma Speed, Catherine
Campbell; two brothers, John and Stanley Crowe; and her husband, Charles Speed,
Sr. in August of 1998.
