Virginia Ruth “Aunt Ted” Nixon Macchi, 92, of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2009 at Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 20, 1917 in Gibson County, she was the daughter of Clinton and Ruth (Howell) Smith.

She was employed as a buyer. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville.

Survivors include a niece Lorraine (Jim) Hall of Martinsville; daughter-in-law, Karen Bryant of Lakeland, Fla.; and three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Nixon in 1938, second husband, Albert Macchi in 1963; son, Kim Nixon; brothers, Leonard, Azel, Thomas, Woodrow Smith; sisters, Maud Dill, Mildred Eads, Clyde Clem and Jean Blaize.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. (central) Friday, April 17, 2009 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hazleton.

Visitation will be at 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2009 at Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville with the Rev. Tom Cash and the Rev. Stephen Johnson officiating. A service will follow at 7 p.m.
