Robert Eugene “Gene” Gudgel, 59, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. (Junction City, Oregon)
Born Jan. 15, 1950, in Evansville, he was the son of Robert A. and Elizabeth (Heuring) Gudgel.
He graduated from Owensville High
School and
received a bachelor’s degree in aviation technology from Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and
retired as a major. He was stationed in Guam
during the Vietnam War and served in the Gulf War, stationed in Saudi Arabia.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Gudgel of Junction City, Ore.; his father, Robert A. Gudgel
of Owensville; daughter, Gina Cabrera of New Mexico; son, Vaughn Gudgel of Florida; two stepdaughters, Alicia Gyori
of Washington and Angela Sigler of Georgia; two sisters, Linda Presnell
and Mary Julian, both of Owensville; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Heuring)
Gudgel.
A service with military honors will take place later at Arlington National Cemetery. Remembrances can be sent to Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
