Nancy Joann Dunning, 75, of Princeton, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at the University of
Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.
She was born in Union, in Pike County on July 5, 1933 to Laura and Floyd “Doc” Tharp. She lived in the Gibson County area most of her life. Before retiring, Nancy worked at P.S.I. in the maintenance department.
After retirement, she worked for Gibson County Coal Co.
She was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Olympus High
School. She
was a member of the Patoka United Methodist Church. Nancy belonged to the Lady Moose organization, enjoyed
bowling, spending time with family, toll painting, basket
weaving, collecting toys and working in her flower garden. She
volunteered at G.C.A.R.C. and worked in the Nutty Bar booth.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, John; three daughters, Cheryl Wolfe
of Vincennes, Terry Welch (Rick Hill) of Princeton, Debbie (Chad) Clark of
Haubstadt; five step children, Joyce (Steve) Vogler
of Jasper, John R. Dunning of Crawfordsville, Sam (Connie) Dunning of Fort
Branch, Karen (Don) Belcher of Princeton, Pat (Bob) Ridge of Franklin;
four sisters and two brothers, James Donel (Peggy)
Tharp of Alta Vista, Va., Mary Case of Princeton, Amelia Adams of Patoka, Floyd
(Judy) Tharp, St. Elmo, Ill., Patty (Ed) Craig Jr. of Princeton, Ruth (Jessie)
Hall of Hazleton; three grandsons, Shawn Wolfe, Tyler and Logan Clark; nine
step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday,
Jan. 7, 2009 at Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Greg Davis officiating. Burial will be at
the Atkinson Chapel in Oatsville.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Patoka United Methodist Church.
