Melanie (Clutter) Dougan, 47, of Elberfeld, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at home.

Born
Jan. 17, 1962 in Evansville, she was the daughter of Milton Clutter and Pat (Slade) Shelton of Haubstadt.

Melanie was a member of the St. Stephens U.C.C. in Warrenton. She attended Gibson Southern High School and graduated from
Evansville North High School in 1980.

Melanie was a 10 year U.S. Air Force veteran and was stationed in
Italy and California. She was a member of the Elberfeld American Legion Post 351. She was working at Rexam when she became ill and formally worked at Integrated Systems, Wabash Plastics and Toyota. She enjoyed her family, piecing quilts, crafts and counted cross stitch.

Survivors include her husband of seven years, Jim Dougan; daughters, Jamie (Stephen) Foster and Briana Spradley of Evansville; stepson, Luke Dougan of Elberfeld; mother, Pat Shelton of Haubstadt; brothers, Mike (Janet) Clutter of Oakland City, Jerry Clutter of Evansville; grandchildren, Jordan and Jayla Foster; father and mother in-law, James and Rita Dougan; of Princeton; brother in-laws, Steve Dougan, Larry Tice; sister in-law, Jesi Tice; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Milton and Dorothy Clutter; and her stepfather, Bill Shelton.

Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 2009 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Warrenton, with the Rev. Steve Oeth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where a military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 351.

 

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at Stodghill Funeral Home located on Ind. 168 West in Fort Branch, and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.
