Patricia Jean (Gilbert) Crimm, age 68, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, surrounded by her family.

She was born
July 25, 1940, in Princeton.

Trish had a happy childhood, growing up in
Princeton where she was a graduate of Princeton High School class of 1958.  She continued her education at Indiana University and in 1962 received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.  She had a passion for helping others and began her nursing career in Baltimore, Md.  She worked at Evansville Deaconess Hospital as a clinical instructor of nurses and as a certified instructor of  LaLeche at Welborn Hospital.

She also taught classes there for expectant parents and found so much joy when she worked in the newborn nursery.  The remainder of her career was spent at Deaconess Women's Hospital in the newborn nursery until her retirement in 2006.

A loving mother with a passion for her grandchildren, Trish so enjoyed her time spent with family and friends.  She was a caring and attentive mother who took an active role in every phase of her children's lives as well as the lives of her nieces and nephews.  In later years, her grandchildren were a great joy and source of pride for her. She truly enjoyed her role as grandmother and kept picture albums of all the special times spent together.  Trish was a kind-hearted person and a lover of animals and nature. She was known to sometimes stop the car along the side of the road to snap a picture of a flower or a tree.  She looked forward to visits at a special vacation spot at
Blue Mountain Lake, New York.

Although Trish's family and career kept her busy, she valued her community. As a young adult she was actively involved in the Junior League of Evansville and continued to be a sustaining member.  She enjoyed her volunteer work at
Wesselman Park Nature Center and the Channel 9 Auction.  She and her mother helped establish the Psi Iota Psi chapter in Evansville where Trish was a charter member.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul D. Crimm; her beloved children and their spouses, Cristi (Bill) Fenton of Greenwood, Carter (Jill) Crimm of Fishers; grandchildren, Jena and Jackson Fenton, Connor and Lauren Crimm, who cherished their “Gamma Tish;” her mother, Jean A. Gilbert; brother, George A. (Malinda) Gilbert; sister Sara Gilbert Viehe, all of Princeton; and special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar M. Gilbert, Jr.

A memorial service and celebration of Trish's life will be at
2 p.m. March 21, 2009, at Alexander North Funeral Home in Evansville.  Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Patricia Crimm will be sorely missed by all who loved her
