Bertis “Bert” Owen Burnes, 93 of Bossier City, La., passed away Monday, April 27, 2009.

Born Aug. 13, 1915 in Francisco, he was the son of John and Mary Burnes.

Survivors include a sister, Etta Mae Stewart of Francisco; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Patsy Burnes of Haughton, La., John Edison and Tutti Burnes of Haughton, Gary Lynn and Jane Burnes of Bossier City, La.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Hannah Evelyn Selph; his son, Bertis Wayne; and 11 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service in honor of Bert’s life will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Bossier City First Church of God, 4601 Airline Dr., Bossier City, La.

A time for visiting with family and friends will immediately follow the memorial.
