Ferdinand W. Spindler, age 89, passed away May 19, 2004 in Warrick County.

 

He was born to the late Frank Sr. and Rosa (Pohl) Spindler on May 8, 1915 in Fort Branch. IN.

 

Ferd was retired from the Emge Meat Packing Co. after 37 years of service. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch, the Fort Branch VFW Post 2714, the Knights of St. John in Haubstadt, the Haubstadt American Legion, and A.A.R.P.

 

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lynn and Raymond Spindler.

 

Ferd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Field) Spindler; 4 children and their spouses, Mary Martha and Steven Kurtz of Robard Ky, Elizabeth Ann and Bryan Haig of Fort Branch, IN, William Emery Spindler of Evansville IN and Nancy Pauline and Leroy Gorman of Evansville; 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Edward Spindler of Haubstadt, IN, Frank Spindler Jr. of Haubstadt, IN, Leo Spindler of Owensville, IN; and 2 sisters, Loretta Schmitt of Poseyville, IN and Sister Rosella Spindler of Ferdinand, IN.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday May 22, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch, IN with burial in the Church cemetery.

 

Friends may call for visitation on Friday May 21, 2004 from 4 to 8 pm at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy 168 W. in Fort Branch and again from 9 am to service time at the church on Saturday. Prayer services will be 7:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
