Ralph L. Hillyard, Sr., 92, of Ft. Branch passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born August 17, 1915, the son of Earl and Effie Hillyard.

His wife of 67 years, Roberta Belles, preceded him in death in 2003. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother Ishmael and stepmother Alice.

He was employed at Emge Packing Co., Ft. Branch, and retired after 47 years. He was a member of Meatcutters Local 172. He also worked with Stodghill Funeral Home. He was an active member of General Baptist Church serving as trustee, Sunday school teacher, and on numerous committees. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball.

He is survived by a daughter, Julia Ann Sunderman and husband Donald of Evansville, and a son, Ralph L. Hillyard, Jr. and wife Linda of Ft. Branch; grandchildren Tracey Sunderman (Mark) Tebelman, Scott (Sharon) Sunderman, Christina Hillyard (Allen) Davis, and Stuart Hillyard and Megan Zirkelbach, and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be conducted on Saturday July 19, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Stodghill Funeral Home.
