William E. “Bud” Blevins, 90,
of Lafayette, IN, formally of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
He was born on Jan. 11, 1916 in Princeton, IN to the late Thomas V. and Bertha (Black) Blevins.
He was a 1934 graduate of Patoka High School. During World War II Bud worked at the DuPont
gunpowder plant in Charlestown, IN. Bud was retired from the Emge
Meat Packing Co. in Fort
Branch, IN in 1978. He was a past
master in 1964 of the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge # 696. He was a member of the East Tipp Baptist Church in Lafayette, and was a longtime member of the Fort Branch First
Presbyterian Church. He was an avid gardener, as well as a sportsman hunter,
most often hunting wildlife with bow and arrow. He enjoyed reading fiction and
non-fiction Christian books, and had a strong faith and belief in the Lord God.
Besides his parents, Bud is
preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lucielle Hollon, Marjorie McDowell, and Berta
Young.
Bud is survived by his wife
of 67 years Edna Marie (Smith) Blevins; 2 children and their spouses, Dr.
William E. Blevins (Karen Kooreman)of Otterbein, IN,
and Dr. Mary Ellen Stepanich of Phoenix, AR; 1
brother, Charles Blevins of Anderson, IN; 2 grandchildren and their spouses
Kristina A. Butler (Nick) of Kildeer, IL, Melissa Wilcoxson (Logan) of Little Rock, Ark.; 2 great grandchildren,
Noah and Sarah Wilcoxson of Little Rock, Ark, and
several nieces and nephews.
Services for Bill will be on Wednesday, April 5,
2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral
Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, Reverend Tarrell Thompson
will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN.
Friends may call for
visitation on Tuesday, April 4th, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the
funeral home. A Masonic service conducted by the Fort Branch Lodge # 696 at
7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
