Edna Marie Blevins, 87, of Lafayette, IN, formally of Fort Branch, IN, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Health Care Center in Lafayette, IN.
She was born May 21, 1920 in Somerville, IN to the late Emma (Starke) Dorsam.
Edna was preceded in death by
her husband of 67 years, William E. (Bud) Blevins; and her sister, Ella (Dorsam) Sulawske.
She was a member of the class
of 1938 at Fort Branch High
School and
was a sales associate at Ben Franklin and Danners
Retail Stores, retiring in 1986. Edna was a 50 year member of the Fort Branch
Order of the Eastern Star #455, and a lifetime member of the Fort branch
Presbyterian Church. An avid craftsperson, a singer, and a
civic volunteer. Edna was especially known for her handcrafted quilts,
her oil-painted landscapes, and her china painting. She was president of the
Fort Branch Home Demonstration Club in the 1960s and 70s, and a member of the
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Edna is survived by her
daughter, Dr. Mary Ellen Stepanich of Phoenix, AZ; her
son, Dr. William E. (Karin Koorman) Blevins of
Otterbein, IN; her sister, Elma (Ralph) Gentry of Lafayette, IN; her brother,
Earl (Hester) Dorsam of Elkhart, IN; e two grandchildren
and their spouses, Kristina A. (Nick) Butler of Kildeer,
IL and Melissa (Logan) Wilcoxson of Little Rock, AR;
two great-grandchildren, Noah and Sarah Wilcoxson of
Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Edna will be at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Stodghill funeral Home
located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN., with the Rev. Tarrell
Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN.
Friends and family may call
for visitation from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, February
2, 2008 at the funeral home
with an Eastern Star service conducted at 7:00 P.M. that evening by the Fort Branch Eastern Star #455.
