Eleanor Jane (Baldwin) Knotts, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on June 25th 2008.
She was born in Princeton, IN to D. Russell and Edith J. Baldwin in 1931.
Mrs. Knotts
graduated from Princeton High
School in
1949 and received a B.S. degree in education from Indiana State University in 1953. Her graduate work was done at Illinois State University and Illinois University. She was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity, Kappa
Delta Pi National Honor Society in Education, and Tri Kappa Society of Indiana.
She married Richard Allison Knotts in 1953 and
started her teaching career in Evansville, IN. Mrs. Knotts also
taught in Connecticut and Illinois before retiring from District 709 in Morton,
IL in 1989.
After retiring from teaching, the family moved to Owensville, IN. and later to Estero, FL. Church was always an important part of Eleanor’s life, and
she served in various leadership positions throughout her church life. Since
moving to Florida, she has been a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Bonita Springs, FL. and was instrumental in the start up and
management of First Thrift Shop located on the church campus.
Mrs. Knotts is survived by her husband, Richard, of
fifty five years; daughter, Edie Lynn McAfee and son-in- law, Mike McAfee of
Kalamazoo, MI.; granddaughter, Ryanne Michelle McAfee
of Columbia, SC.; and many loving and thoughtful family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Bonita Springs, FL. at a later date.
An interment ceremony at a
family gravesite will be 11 A.M.
Monday,
June 30, 2008 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana, with Rev. Mark Fernihough
officiating.
