David K. Higdon Sr., 65, of Evansville passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at his home in Evansville where he had lived for the past 20 years.

 

He was born on December 22, 1942 in Vanderburgh County to Thomas J. & Martha (Bruner) Higdon who preceded him in death along with his sister, Tommie Lou Higdon. 

David worked for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad where he retired after 31 years. He served in the US Navy. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a Volkswagen car enthusiast. He raised and loved bulldogs including his two special dogs Kane and Fancy that will miss him a lot. David loved his job and worked nearly seven days a week to care for his family who he was very devoted to. 

He is survived by his 5 children, Dr. David Higdon Jr. & fiancée Peggy Noland of Kennesaw, GA., Jody Puro & fiancée Tommy Bennett and Rachelle Perry all of Princeton. Tracy Colvin & fiancée Cliff Vinson of Hazleton, and Todd Higdon of Evansville; 8 grandchildren, Alescia & Heather Colvin, Jennifer Puro, Shelby Perry, Matthew & Sydney Devault, and Zachary & Max Wigand; 2 great grandchildren; brother & sister, Ronald Higdon & Norma Ice both of Evansville; former spouses Patricia Higdon Bowen of Ft. Branch and Carolee Higdon Taylor of Evansville; and several nieces & nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on
Monday, May 19, 2008 at 3 P.M. at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Pastor Gary Arnold officiating. Burial will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wadesville, IN with military graveside services by VFW Post #1147.

 

Friends may visit Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home.
