Mr. Warren Gene Hayden, 83,
passed away Monday, July 4, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.
He was born in Winslow, Ind., to Paul and Daisie Flint
Hayden.
He was a graduate of Oakland City University and had attended Northeast Louisiana State University. He was a Certified Safety Professional and had
worked as a safety engineer for many corporations for 35 years, including the
U.S. Army, Enos Coal Mine, Thiokol Chemical Corp.,
Olin Corp. and Kerr-McGee Corp. He was past president of the Utah Chapter of
the American Society of Safety Engineers and a member of the National Fire
Protection Association, American Mining Congress Safety Committee and the
American Petroleum Institute. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member
of the Princeton, Ind., VFW Post 1147. He was a member of the Oakland City Masonic
Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hadi
Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1999, and his parents.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Joseph Ireland of Francisco, Ind.; and nieces and nephews, Michael and Kathy Lee,
Bradley Lee, Julie and Michael Benton, Jonathan Ireland, and Richard and
Charles Merrick. He is also survived by a special friend, Maybell
Schmaltz.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Dr. Douglas Low officiating. Burial will be in
the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, where the VFW Post 1147 will have military
rites.
Friends may call from 4 to
8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.
to service time Thursday at the funeral home. F.&A.M.
Lodge 467 will have Masonic services at 7 p.m.
this evening.
