OAKLAND CITY, Ind.-Emil "Slick" Harkness, 97, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Amber Manor, in Petersburg.

 

He was born June 23, 1908 to Omar and Ethel (Nossett) Harkness in Oakland City

He was a retired truck driver at the Blackfoot Coal Mine and a member of U.M.W.A Local 352. After retirement he worked as a house painter. 

He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Belva (Luttrull) Harkness in 2002; and three sisters, Edith, Ermil and Gladys. 

He is survived by two daughters, Lois Corn, of Winslow and Norma Gieselman, of
Newburgh; two grandchildren, Rick Gieselman, of Princeton and Karen (Jim) Halle, of Newburgh; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. 

Funeral services will be at
10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, in Oakland City, with burial in the Augusta Cemetery in Pike County.
