Marilynn Parrett Hansen, 86 passed away on September 26, 2008, in Sarasota, Florida.

 

A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born on October 7, 1922 in Princeton, Indiana to parents Ida Katterjohn Parrett Smith and Fred R. Parrett

Marilynn grew up in Princeton, Indiana and was a graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. There, she was a founding member of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. She met her husband of 48 years, Robert, in Princeton, and they raised their family there as he served as CEO of Hansen Manufacturing. 

A resident of Longboat Key, Florida for over 30 years, she was active in her community and church. Marilynn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sarasota and would often serve in many of the church’s programs including United Methodist Women and the homeless outreach. She was also a local member of the AAUW, PEO Sisterhood, and the Bird Key Yacht Club. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Paul Hansen, sister Lucille P. Guild and daughter Roberta "Polly" Hansen. 

She is survived by two daughters, Sara H. Kingston of Longboat Key, Florida and Julia P. Hansen of Fort Myers, Florida; a niece, Susan Young of Sarasota, Florida; two grandchildren, Emily A. (Kingston) Smith of Boca Raton, Florida, and Stephen R. Kingston of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and two great-grandchildren Robert Paul Hansen Smith and Hadley Madeline Smith. 

A graveside service is scheduled on Friday, October 24, 2008, 10:00 AM at the White Church Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana.
