Karl A. Halwes,
83, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005 at his home near Mackey. He was born near Fort Branch to August and Irene (Printiz)
Halwes.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was an ironworker, a 43-years member
of Local 103 Iron Workers Association and had retired from Industrial
Contractors. He was a 50-year member of St. John's United Church of Christ, in Buckskin, a member of Somerville
American Legion Post 462, Oakland City F&AM Lodge 467 and the Antique
Machinery Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Genevieve (Wallis) Halwes, in 2003; and 2 brothers, Fred Halwes,
in 1993and Everett Halwes in 1977.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the St.
John's United Church of Christ in Buckskin, with the Revs. Frank Sapp Jr. and Kenneth Kramer Sr. officiating. Burial
will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, near Fort Branch.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, in Oakland City and from noon
until service time Thursday at the church.
