Dorothy J. Heacock, 76, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Heritage Center in Evansville.

She was born September 30, 1931 in Spurgeon, IN to George & Lelah (Doughty) Cox and had resided in Oakland City most of her lifetime.

She was a retired nurse, working at many locations during her nursing career. She was a member of Golden Fleece Chapter #176 – Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents and also her husband, Jerald Heacock in 1992. 

Survivors include her 4 children, Jeremy Heacock of Evansville, IN; Hoyt Heacock of Carlinville, IL; Marilyn K. Cooper of Newburgh, IN & Sharilyn H. Scheller of Evansville, IN. 7 grandchildren, Lindy Gross, Jared Heacock, Derek Heacock, Kyle Wallace, Jessica Heacock, Andrea Wallace & Alexis Travers. 3 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ashlynn & Victoria Nigh. 1 brother, Ollie “Wayne” Cox of West Frankfort, IL; 1 sister, Betty Hopkins of Madisonville, KY.

Private funeral services will be held at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with burial at Lynnville Cemetery in Lynnville, IN. There will be no visitation.
