Emily Brooke (Ice) Griswold, 25 of Francisco, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, following a lengthy illness.

Emily was born on February 23, 1982 in Vincennes to Ronald A. & Scarlet R.(Melton) Ice of Giro, in rural Hazleton

Emily grew up on a farm in Giro until June 18, 2002, when she married James C. Griswold and moved to Francisco. She was a 10 year 4-H member and a girl scout and softball player in Hazelton. She was the Golden Heritage Days, Miss Congeniality in 2000, the year she graduated from PCHS. In school she was the secretary for FFA. Emily was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and also attended Wabash Valley College, both in Mt. Carmel, Illinois

She had worked for various businesses throughout the years, but her most important job was her father’s partner in his business, Ice Dozer Service. She and her husband were members of the Francisco Volunteer Fire Dept., Francisco First Responders, and the National Turkey Wildlife Federation. Emily was a very loving and gracious person and had a special love for animals, taking in strays anytime to nurse them back to health. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, horseback riding, 4-wheeler riding, gardening, and was very artistic. She loved and had such a concern for people that her final gift to this world was an organ donation on Monday night that saved 5 lives.

Emily was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Edward Ice on July 26, 1977, and an infant child.

She is survived by her husband, James Griswold of Francisco; parents, Ronnie & Scarlet Ice of Giro; brother & sister, Patrick & Laura both at home; sister & brother-in-law, Maegan & Bryan Edwards; niece & nephew, Kierstyn & Jaydon Edwards all of Hazleton; grandparents, Jim & Stella Ice of Giro and Robert G. Melton of Florida; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Earl & Marybeth Griswold of Princeton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gregg & Emily Griswold and niece, Kameron all of Francisco; brother-in-law, Billy Griswold of Francisco; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with a prayer service following at the Mt. Olive Church in Mt. Olympus before burial at the church cemetery. Rev. Gary Arnold will officiate.

Friends may visit from 3 until 9 PM on Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home.

God called his young angel home, for he has better things planned for her that we may only dream of. Emily will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Please keep her love of others growing by becoming an organ and tissue donor.
