Gene Goodson, 83, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Gibson General Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.

 

He was born October 7, 1924 in Owensville, IN and had resided in Princeton since 2006, after having lived in Lake Placid, FL for 22 years.

 

He retired in 1984 as a heavy-duty mechanic for Peabody Coal Company, Squaw Creek Mine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WW II. He was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton; graduated in 1942 from Owensville High School; a member of Prince Masonic Lodge #231 in Princeton & Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville; a member of V.F.W. #1147 in Princeton and Local #1189 of District #12 of United Mine Workers of America.

 

Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Hays Goodson in 1982; his parents, Arthur & Leona Goodson; a brother, Jack Goodson and 2 sisters, Diedra Pollard & Greta Linxwiler

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Marilou Pollock Goodson of Princeton; 2 step-children, Larry Pollock of Evansville & Margaret “Sharee” (Larry) Goodloe of Princeton; a sister, Jennie Smith of Princeton; 4 step-grandchildren, Tom (Laura) Goodloe of Morganfield, KY, Shannon (Kenny) Morris of Princeton, Tyler Pollock of Cincinnati, OH & Marly Brier Pollock of Evansville; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Joe Goodloe, Savanna, Heather & Brittney Morris & Lillian Goodloe; nephews, Andy Goodson of Columbus City, IN, Mike Goodson of Anderson, IN, Russell Pollard of Massachusetts and Kent & Heber Keith Smith both of Princeton; nieces, Barbara Melson of Princeton, Linda Wallace of Marion, IN, Ardith Schiele of Evansville, Jennifer Culter of Haubstadt, Kris Stout of Mt. Carmel, IL & Sue Gardner of Evansville.

Funeral services will be held at
2 P.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Craig Duke officiating.

 

Friends may visit from 12 noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Owensville Cemetery in Owensville, IN
