Kenneth L. Fortner, 85, passed away on Friday December 14, 2007 at his home in Princeton.

 

Kenneth retired in 1976 as a detective with the State Police after 28 years. He also served as a probation officer. He served in the Air Force during WW II, where he was awarded 6 Bronze Stars. Kenneth was a life member of the VFW #1147, Elks, and the American Legion #25. He was also a member of the F.O.P. 

He was born on
October 27, 1922 in Princeton to William & Eunice (Jines) Fortner, both deceased. Also preceding him in death was his granddaughter, Amy Leann Hoover. 

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dortha Fortner of Princeton; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Marsha & Bill Kreitenstein of Evansville and Vicki & Jack Hoover of Patoka; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Susan Fortner of Vincennes; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Baker, Ian & Emilee Kreitenstein, Nicole Fortner, Natalie Bratcher & Michael Fortner; 9 great grandchildren; brother, J.D. Fortner of Princeton and sister, Norma Jean Taylor of Indianapolis. 

Funeral Services will be held at
10:00 AM on Tuesday December 18, 2007 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Greg Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.

 

Friends may visit from 4 until 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. VFW Post #1147 will conduct military graveside services. Indiana State Police will provide honor guard.
