Steven James Engels, 51, passed away on Monday September 10, 2007 after a long battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

 

He was born in Evanston, Illinois on May 24, 1956 and had lived in Owensville since 1986.

 

He was a devoted husband and father. Steve was the owner of ANCi and was a well-liked and highly respected agricultural consultant for over 20 years. 

He was an avid outdoorsman, and one of his greatest accomplishments was that he was able to visit all the contiguous states of the
U.S. with his family on summer camping trips. He was also highly involved in youth programs throughout the county, serving as a coach for softball, baseball and basketball. He was a long-standing member and past president of the Gibson County Youth Soccer League, and coached in that organization for 14 years. He had also been the Gibson Southern High School Junior Varsity Soccer Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach. In addition, he served as a leader for Owensville Boy Scout Troop 248, helping numerous boys reach the rank of Eagle Scout. He devoted his life to his own children and to the children of the community. 

Steve is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara; his children, Dylan, Logan, Nolan and Faye all at home; parents, Frank & Joy Engels of Weston, CT; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank & Sue Engels of Flemington, NJ, Brad & Stephanie Engels of Cheshire, CT; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jana & Mark Stinson of Reynoldsburg, OH, Claudia & Mark Pratt of Canal Winchester, OH, Karla & Tyson Schmidt of Carrollton, TX; 9 nieces and nephews. 

Memorial Services will be held at
10:00 AM on Saturday September 15, 2007 at the First General Baptist Church in Owensville with the Rev. Bob Douglas officiating.

 

Friends may visit from 3 until 8 PM on Friday and from 9 AM until service time at the First General Baptist Church in Owensville. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton is in charge of arrangements.
