Mr. Elvis H. Dougan, 85, passed away Wednesday July 12, 2006 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born in Francisco, IN.
to Ross and Mabel ( Goodwin) Dougan.
He was a long time resident
of Oakland City, IN. and served in the Sea Bees during W.W. II. He
was a member of the Oakland City American Legion and served in the American
Legion's Honor Guard for many years.
He was a 49 year member of
the Laborers Local 561 for which he worked as both a laborer and field
representative.
He was a member of the Oakland City First General Baptist Church and the church Brotherhood committee. Elvis also did
a lot of volunteer service for the church.
In 2002, at the age of 82,
Elvis won Oakland City's prestigious Parke Award. The Parke award is given
for outstanding community service. Recipients of this award must be selected by
members of the community.
He is survived by 2 sons, Michael and spouse, Anita of Oakland City and Patrick
and spouse, Donna Dougan of Indianapolis. Grand Children, Anthony and Daniel Dougan and Wendy Fulps and great
grandchildren, Ally, Zack and Troy Dougan and Misty
and Autumn Fulps.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Mary (Isle) in 1977, his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Sunday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with burial in the Forsythe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 until
8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m.
until service time Sunday at the Funeral Home. Oakland City American Legion
will provide military graveside services.
