Doyle C. Day, age 82, died Tuesday May 15, 2007 at 9:35 p.m. at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

 

He was born in Mt. Carmel, IL on Nov. 11, 1924 to Herschel and Pearl (Beck) Day. He had lived in Princeton since 1955 moving here from Mt. Carmel

He was a retired inspector for Potter and Brumfield where he worked for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 25, the Moose Lodge in
Princeton where he was the first member of the Lodge to receive the Pilgrim Degree of the Lodge. He was the President of the Machinist Union at P&B for 20 years. He worked on the State Welfare Board and served on the Princeton City Council for four years. 

Doyle is survived by his wife Mary Lee Day, Princeton, son David Day, Princeton, two daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Greg Whitten, of Princeton and Diana and Chip Michas, of Princeton, six grandchildren: Rebecca Willis, Kimberly Vasalakiss, Hannah Whitten, Shirley Standish-Day, Amanda Miskell and Mathew Meadows, one sister, Maxine Rister, Carmi, IL, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by parents, five brothers and three sisters. 

Funeral Services will be
10 a.m. Saturday May 19, 2007 at the Colvin Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia "White" Church Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Colvin Funeral Home. V.F.W. Post 1147 will conduct military graveside services.
