Walter C. Cox, 82, of Oakland City passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at his home. He had lived in Oakland City since 1966, moving from Princeton

He was born
March 13, 1926 in Princeton, Indiana to Jesse and Minnie (Phillips) Cox who preceded him in death along with his 3 sisters, Violet Thacker, Wilma Westfall, and Virginia Sturgeon; and a granddaughter, Jada

Walter served in WWII in the United States Navy. He worked at Hitch Packing Company as the head meat cutter for 38 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Oakland City Golf Club, a 50-year member of Prince Masonic Lodge #231 F & AM, and attended the General Baptist Church of Oakland City. 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan (Deutsch) Cox; 3 sons Jim Cox of St. Louis, MO, Bruce (Pam) Coleman of Senoia, GA, Marty (Laura) Coleman of Princeton; 1 daughter Michele (Rod) Bruce of Oakland City; 7 grandchildren Andrea, Jerrica, Samantha, Justin, Krista, Bekah, & Makenna; 6 great grandchildren; nieces & nephews Kaye, Connie, Ronnie, Sharon, & Mike; and several great nieces & nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on
Friday, April 25, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with the Rev. Terryl Almond and Dr. Douglas Low officiating. Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery with military graveside services by VFW Post #1147.

 

Friends may visit Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
