Nina L. Chumbley,
75, of Oakland City, Indiana formerly of Springfield, Illinois passed away on Monday, April 2, 2007 at her home in Oakland City, Indiana.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oakland City. She worked as a rehab and vocational counselor and
also taught adult and children literacy. Ms. Chumbley
was an accomplished violinist & seamstress. A voracious reader, she
volunteered endless hours at the Oakland City Public Library and belonged to
the O.C. Reading Club. She belonged to the Women’s Research Club, Friends of
the O.C. Library and the O.C. Philharmonic.
She was born June 29, 1931 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Otis L. & Mildred (Wilson) Chumbley, both deceased.
She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Phyllis Tucker and Mary
Johnson.
Nina is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Joan & Dan Mason of
Rochester, IL, William L. Shurig of Evansville, IN,
Jayne Thompson of Springfield, IL, Brent & Annette Shurig
of Oakland City, IN, Mary Jean and Wayne Ivy of Patoka, IN; 3 grandchildren,
Mark & Ben Thompson of Springfield, IL. and Crystal Shurig
of Evansville, IN; brother, Orlan Chumbley
of Tampa, FL; sister, Anna O’Bryan of Pinellas Park, FL; cousin, Shirley Dougan of Oakland City and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m.

April 21, 2007 at the Good Shephard United Methodist Church in Oakland City.
