Irma Jean (Wilson) Brown age 85 of Princeton, past away on her birthday, Dec. 24, 2008 at the Four Seasons Nursing Home in Columbus, IN.
She was born Dec. 24, 1923 in Owensville, IN to Arthur and Ruby (VanWinkle)
Brown (sic.)
Irma had lived in Princeton all of her life. She had been a Regional Director for
the Girl Scouts of America. She had also worked for Potter and Brumfield, and
taught at Oakland City College. She graduated from Princeton High
School in
1942 and from Indiana University in 1947. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton. She enjoyed quilting, genealogy and was a master
gardener.
She is survived by a daughter, Abigail (James) Downey, Bloomington, IN, two
sons: David Anderson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Glenn Brown, Glen Ellyn, IL,
sister; Maxine Overton Arnold, CA, four grandchildren: Sean Downey, Chris and
Nathan Anderson, and Alissa Scharpen,
six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene Brown in 2007 and
by a sister Judith.
Funeral Services will 12 p.m.
Tuesday,
Dec. 30, 2008 at the
gravesite in Owensville Cemetery, with the Rev. John Stepp
officiating. Burial will follow the services.
Visitation will be from 10
a.m. until 11:30
a.m. Tuesday at the Colvin
Funeral Home followed by a procession to the cemetery for the services.
