Marvin L. Barrett, 79, formerly of Princeton, passed away at his home in Ft. Branch on February 14, 2008. He was born on April 15, 1928.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel & Bessie Barrett of Pike County, Indiana and an infant daughter, Jeannie Sue Barrett.

 

He was a member of the Tower Heights Church of God for 60 years. While serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1959 he was crew chief of a B-29 bomber. He was a member of the UMWA Local 5179 and employed by Old Ben 1, where he retired with 24 years of service. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Mason) Barrett; also survived by his sons & a daughter-in-law, Timothy Barrett of Ft. Branch and Jeffrey & Lynn Barrett of Princeton; grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Collen Barrett of Princeton; brothers, Wilmer “Jake” Barrett of Oakland City & Darvin Barrett of Princeton; sisters, Estelle Ashby & Wandalee Tisdale both of Princeton; a brother-in-law, Donald A. Mason of Princeton; several nieces & nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at
1 P.M. Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. James Walters officiating.

 

Friends may visit from 4 until 8 P.M. Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Decker Cemetery, rural Patoka. V.F.W. #1147 will provide full military rites at the cemetery.
