Bessie P. Young, 84, of Winslow, IN entered eternal rest on Friday September 22, 2006 at 8:30 A.M. at her home.

She was born on January 25, 1922 in Albany KY to Harmon and Ida Mae (Brown) Harris.

She attended Muren Church of God and for several years was a nanny, worked at Edna’s Café, was an in-home caregiver; she loved cooking, flowers, horses, race cars, her children and grandchildren, loved to travel and had an adventurous spirit and enjoy her trips to California to visit and stay with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hiram in 1964; a granddaughter Layla in 1992; and special son-in-law Joseph Bockhold in 2000.

Surviving family members are: Kenneth (Nell) Reed of Washington, IN, James (Sharida) Reed of Oakland City, IN, Judge Deedira Bockhold of Garden Grove, California. Diana Denton of Oakland City, IN, Patricia A. Young of Winslow, IN; grandchildren, Renee, Lisa, Angie, Ramona, Darrin, Kimberly and Julie; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Whitehead of Petersburg, IN

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial in Oakland City, IN, with burial in Martin Cemetery near Littles, IN, with Rev. Frank McCandless officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Wednesday at the Chapel
