Ruth A. Smith, 93, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Oakland City, IN. entered rest on Thursday October 25, 2007 at 3:20 P.M. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

She was born on October 23, 1914 in Heilman, IN, to Ora and Ada (Condit) Bruce.

She was a retired Gibson County Truant Officer. She graduated from Oakland City College with B.S Degree in 1962 and was licensed as a school teacher in 1937.

She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Oakland City, Tri-Kappa, Bridge Club, and the Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Charlean Simmons in 1997.

Surviving family include: Husband, Arthur Smith; granddaughters, Heather (William) Alumbaugh of Mt. Vernon, IN and Holly (Jeff) Hobgood of Newburgh, IN; great grandchildren, Katana and Kema Alumbaugh; son-in-law, Melvin Simmons of Evansville, IN,

Funeral services will be Sunday October 28, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with burial in Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN, Rev. Rodney Walls will officiate.

Visitation will from 1:00 P.M.on Sunday.
