Joel R. Simpson, 73, of Mt .Carmel, IL entered rest at 9:05 A.M., Thursday January 4, 2007 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born November 2, 1933 in Oakland City to Cecil and Mary (Wheeler) Simpson.

He was a carpenter for several years in the Mt. Carmel area and was Pastor of Somerville Community Church in Somerville, IN.

Surviving are: A son, Steve Simpson of Oakland City, IN; a grandson, Jerry Simpson of Columbus, IN; two great grandchildren; a brother, Russell Simpson of Anderson, IN; an aunt, Lura Simpson of Princeton, IN; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday January 8, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Somerville Community Church, with burial in Somerville Cemetery, Rev. Ron Gates officiating.

Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until services on Monday at the church.

Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City is in charge of arrangements.
