FT. BRANCH - Agnes M. Schmitt, 83, of Ft. Branch, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at Loogootee Nursing Center.

She was born September 8, 1917 in St. Anthony.

She was a housewife and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ft. Branch and a former member of the Friendly Circle and the Altar Society at the church.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Campbell of Newport, Mich., and Betty Huelsman of Odon; four sons, David J. of Stoneham, Mass., James A. of Ft. Branch, Roger M. of Clarkston, Wash., and Timothy A. of Blairsville; two sisters, Mary Gruenke of Sheboygan, Wis., and Elizabeth Schmitt of Ireland; three brothers, Joe Wagner of Jasper and Richard and Tony Wagner, both of St. Anthony; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Urban Schmitt and her parents, Wendel and Lena Wagner.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ft. Branch. Father Bernard Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Stodghill Chapel.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
