Bessie H. Houghland, 96, formerly of Oakland City now of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away on Monday September 19, 2005 at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City, Georgia.

She was born on January 25, 1909 in Gibson County IN to Clyde and Ethel Pearson.

She was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oakland IN.  She also she had worked for The Red and White Store for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by husband Albert Houghland in 1963.

Surviving are: daughters, Diane Meade of Peachtree City, GA and Janice Hayes of Plantation FL; a step son,  Harold Houghland of Downey, CA; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren

Funeral Services will be Saturday September 24, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, burial in Montgomery Cemetery, Rev. Sam Padgett officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Saturday at the chapel.
