Maxine “Chapman” Hartman, 84, of Oakland City, IN, entered rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 4:05 P.M. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She was born on September 11, 1923 in Spurgeon, IN to Clarence and Alma Ellen (Bruner) Chapman.

She retired from Indiana University in student housing after 20 years. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Oakland City, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Cleon Kasey and Robert Hartman; brothers, Onis Chapman and Robert Chapman.

Surviving are a son, Keith (Saundra) Gore of Oakland City, IN; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mitchell of Mt. Vernon. Georgia; grandchildren, Steve Mitchell, Debbie Lamb and Laura Demmer of Mt. Vernon, GA, Jeffrey Gore and Shelly Gore of Chicago, IL; and several great grandchildren

Funeral services will be Tuesday July 22, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial following in Spurgeon Cemetery, Rev. John Swain officiating.

Visitation will from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday and 8:00A.M to service time on Tuesday at the chapel.
