RAYMOND C. AYERS

Princeton – Raymond C. Ayers, 61, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at 10:45 a.m., at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was born in Princeton, May 4, 1938, to Ishmael and Sheila (Cox) Ayers.

A Princeton resident his entire life, he was the former owner-operator of the Ayers Service Station and Wrecker Service and retired from Old Ben Coal in 1995.  He was a member of Prince Lodge #231, of Scottish Rite, and of Hadi Shrine of Evansville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha Sue Ayers; brothers, Richard L. Ayers and Michael Weiner; and son Richard W. Ayers.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betty Ayers of Princeton; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Kenny Chamberlain and Pam and Kevin Johnson, all of Princeton; daughter, Mindy Burnfin of Princeton; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Teresa Ayers of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Chris Hoffhaus of Princeton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Weiner of Francisco; sisters, Margie Cooper of Haubstadt and Marilyn Michel and Annie Conner, both of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, at Colvin Funeral Home, Revs Vern Ames and Larry Meadows officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Princeton.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Colvin Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday.
