Verna M. Owens, age 58, of Columbus, Ind., died Saturday morning [April 21, 1973] at her residence.

Mrs. Owens was born March 15, 1915 in Petersburg. She was the daughter of Elder Edward and Mary Willis Blake.

She married Ralph Owens January 6, 1937 in Oakland City. In May of that year they moved to Columbus.

Survivors include her husband; four sisters, Mrs. Naomi Richardson, of Petersburg, Mrs. Ida Merritt of Oakland City, Mrs. Marie Hill of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Jean Blackburn of Evansville; six nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Burial was in the Montgomery Cemetery and the graveside service was conducted by Elder O.B. Morgan of the Primitive Baptist [Church] of Oakland City.
