Mrs. Mary ‘Essie’ Higginbotham, 86, died on Sunday morning, April 16, 1978, in Deaconess Hospital, Evansville.

She was born in Gibson county on Sept. 12, 1891, and had lived in Owensville her entire lifetime. Mrs. Higginbotham was a member of the Maumee General Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Donald, Owensville; and David L., Detroit, Ore.; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Hurt, Evansville and Mrs. Medrith Hale and Mrs. Lois Wade, both of Owensville; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Maumee General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wendell Allen and the Rev. Michael Hurt officiating. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Monday at Holder Funeral Home and until noon on Tuesday when the body will be moved to the church.
