John Phelps Retired Coal Miner Succumbs
John Nelson Phelps, 84, of 1020
Maple Ave., died Thursday, April
17, 1969, at 7:15 p.m. at Gibson General Hospital, after
several years illness.
Mr.
Phelps was born November
30, 1884, in Perry County to
Samuel and Sarah Jane Blood Phelps. He
had resided the past 43 years in Gibson County. Mr. Phelps was a retired coal miner. He
attended the Chandler United Methodist Church of Chandler.
Surviving are his wife, Julie M.
Coleman; one daughter, Ada Mae Scott of Princeton and
two sons, Loran Louis Phelps and William Lawrence Phelps both of Princeton; two
brothers, Cora C. Phelps of Boonville and Everett S. Phelps of Muncie; seven
grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Kendall Funeral Home
with burial in White Church Cemetery. Rev.
George Koch will officiate.
Mr. Phelps is at the Kendall Funeral
Home where friends may call after 3 p.m.
Saturday.
