Samuel N. Bottom

Samuel N. Bottom, age 78, retired groceryman, died at 12 o’clock Friday night at his home, 1001 south Seminary street, following a fracture of the right hip, suffered recently in a fall at his home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Memorial M. E. church, of which he was a member, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Amos L. Boren.  Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Surviving are the widow, (Sarah) Margaret; three sisters, Mrs. Bell Sparrow, Hurst, Ill.; Mrs. Lela Shumaker of Evansville, and Mrs. Will Bottom, of Princeton; a niece, Mrs. Frank Finney, of Evansville, who made her home with them from childhood, and several other nieces and nephews.

The deceased was born in Washington County, Ky., Dec. 14, 1858, but had resided in Princeton for the past 37 years, where he was in the grocery business for a number of years.  He served as councilman at large one term under the late Mayor William Ennes.

The remains will be at the Colvin and Son Funeral home until the hour of the funeral.
