William J. Sumners, age 84 years, one of the pioneer men of Gibson county, was found dead in his bed early this morning at the home of his son, Joe Sumners, north of town. Death was due to neuralgia of the heart, incident to old age. The coroner was called, holding an inquest this morning.

 

Deceased was born in Gibson county, and with the exception of a few years, spent his life here. His time was devoted to farming and stock raising, in which he was successful. As a member of the Methodist church, he lived the life of a consistent Christan and was held in the highest regard by his neighbors and acquaintances.

 

The funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. L.C. Murr. Interment will be in the Montgomery cemetery.

 

Surviving are one son, Joe Sumners, and three daughters. Mrs. Lawrence Beardsley of this city. Mrs. Anna Evans, of Petersburg, and Mrs. Lawson Evans, of Winslow. ---Oakland City Journal.
