JULIA MONTGOMERY DEAD.   (1845 – 6 Jul 1899)

Well Know Lady of this City Succumbs to Consumption last Night

--Funeral Friday Morning

After lingering for several months with consumption, death came to end the sufferings of Miss Julia Montgomery at 12:50 this morning.  The end had been hourly expected for a day or two but the spark of life held on and the fight with the inevitable was prolonged.  The end came peacefully.

Miss Montgomery was a daughter of Tandy B Montgomery (and Belinda Potter Montgomery,) long since deceased, who was well known over the country.  Several brothers and sisters passed to the great beyond and now the deceased is the last of this family.  A brother, Alex Montgomery, was county auditor many years ago and was well-known.  A sister was the wife of R B Campbell, of Oakland City, but she has been dead a number of years.  Miss Montgomery was 54 years of age.  She was a most estimable lady and had many friends and acquaintances who regret to learn of her death.

The funeral will occur at the residence on east Broadway tomorrow Friday morning at 9:30 o’clock, and the services will be conducted by Rev. J E Jenkins.  The remains will be laid to rest in Warnock cemetery.
