THE CHRISTIAN RECORD
OBITUARY
Departed this life, August 21st 1866, ELD.WILLIAM J. SAULMAN, in the
28th year of his age. His disease was consumption, and though he
lingered along for several years, he was never heard to murmur; he bore it with
christian fortitude and
resignation; always putting his trust in the Lord; being willing that the will
of the Lord be done. Brother Saulman obeyed the gospel when quite young, and ever since
has adorned his profession by living the christian
life. For some years prior to his death,
he served the church as elder. The
church at Union, Gibson county, Indiana, feel their loss as an officer; but he
has gone, he has finished his course, he foughe the
good fight of faith, and with the apostles, and all those that have washed
their robes in the blood of the Lamb, he will receive a crown of
righteousness. He has gone to meet his
children, three in number, who have preceded him to the grave. While we drop a sympathetic tear with his christian wife, who in his death
has sustained so great a loss, it is not as those who have no hope, for our
loss is his gain. May we all live in
that way, that when we have to bid adieu to earth, that we will meet him in
that heaven above, where parting is no more, where sickness and sorrow is not
known, where all is peace and love. ELIJAH J.
SAULMAN
