          OBITUARIES

  Died, Feb. 23d, 1864, of Consumption, Bro. Elijah Saulmon, of Gibson co.,

Indiana.  He was born the 30th day of March, 1814, in Halifax co. Va.  In

1824 he moved with his father to Indiana, was buried with his Lord in bap-

tism, April 1st, 1829, and joined the old Christian church, then New Light, at

Old Union, Posey co., Ind.; shortly after, he embraced the Reformation, to

which he clung most ardently to the close of his life.

  He officiated as Clerk and as Deacon in Union church for many years, and

in 1850 was chosen one of the ruling Elders.  He was a devoted Christian,

and his life proved his sincerity.
