Died at the residence of his Father, on Monday
evening, the 28th ult., Jonathan E Arbuthnot, aged 19 years, 1 month
and 7 days. The deceased was a young man
of excellent disposition, of fine promise, well beloved by his friends, and
just entering upon manhood with all the buoyant anticipation common to
youth. But he has been cut off, in the
very spring time of his years, causing a breach, especially in the family
circle, which time will not speedily heal.
He has, however, been taken from the evil to come, and in another and a
better world, it is hoped, through the merits of his Savior, he has entered
into peace. Bowing in resignation to the
Divine will, it is trusted his sorrowing relatives will be enabled to say, “The
Lord gave and the Lord taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord;” and that
his young friends will be so taught to number their days that they may apply
their hearts unto wisdom.
