Betty Sue Sorgius, 78, passed away Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Born Aug. 26, 1932 in Montgomery, Ala., she was the daughter of Ralph C. and Thelma Ellison.

She was co-owner of Ripco Ltd. She was a member of the Otwell United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Her family was her passion and life.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald L. “Rip” Sorgius of Otwell; two sons, Gary D. (Cheryl) Sorgius of Vincennes, Ronnie A. (LuAnn) Sorgius of Jasper; two daughters, Teresa S. (Larry) Kruse of Princeton, Rhonda D. (David) Jochim of Otwell; two sisters, Grace English of Montgomery, Ala., Doris DeVaughn of Prattville, Ala.; grandchildren, J.D. and Brena Sorgius, Jayden, Cole, Rhys, B.J. and Heather Sorgius, Quinton, Kendric, Lakin Channing, Autumne and Andy Southard, Kingsley, Sterling and Lacey Sorgius, Shayla Medlen, Taylor, Christopher and Laura Blue, Bryce, Ian,  Remi,  Nicholas and Beth Blue, Grant and Keaton, Jason and Sarah Kruse, Eli and Claire, Christopher Perkins, Corey Jochim and Justin Jochim.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, R.C. Ellison, M.J. Ellison,  Floyd Ellison; and two sisters, Mary Ruth Sanders and Ailene Bamberg.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Otwell United Methodist Church with Pastor Wes Garris officiating. Burial will be in Otwell Cemetery.

Visitation will 2-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg is handling arrangements.
