Nettie L. Sokeland, 94, of Fort Branch, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.

Born Sept. 21, 1915 in Gibson County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Dora (Morgan) Weber.

Nettie was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch and recently at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton. She was a foster parent for Catholic Charities until 1974.

Survivors include three children, Vic and Frank Sokeland of Fort Branch, Mary Glavich of Princeton; a sister and brother, Leona Harmon of Fort Branch, Clarence Weber of Princeton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Golla Sokeland in 1984; two brothers, Johnny and Louis Weber; three sisters, Marie Dewig, Helen Hoefling, and Francis Weber.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, with Father Tony Ernst as the celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 at Stodghill Funeral Home on Ind.168 West in Fort Branch, and 9 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the church. A Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
