Mary Magdalen Meny, 92, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at The Sterling House in Evansville

Mary was the eldest child of Victor and Lorene (Schultheis) Meny.

She graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1936. Mary was a life member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of The Altar Society, St. Bernadette Auxiliary No. 280, Daughters of Isabella No. 151, Indiana Right To Life and was a Benedictine Oblate.  She was also a recipient of The Brute’ Society Award.

She was part owner of Meny’s Store, working there for 50 years, retiring in 1983. Mary was a very generous person and when she was able, she loved to travel.  Mary donated many hours of volunteer work.

Mary is survived by seven sisters, Dorothy Hamerin of St. Helens, Ore., Wilma Riedford of Haubstadt, Elvira (Jack) Neidig of Fort Branch, Ann Lannert of Evansville, Imelda Balbach of Darmstadt, Berenice (Jake) Price of Cynthiana, Joanne (Ed) Lamey of Haubstadt; four brothers, Kenneth (Elvira) Meny of Haubstadt, Gerald (Shirley) Meny of Evansville, Charles (Ross) Meny of Evansville, Gene Meny of Haubstadt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Tony Ernst as the celebrant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home with a Rosary service  at 7 p.m.  Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at the church.
