Ruth H. Comer, 95, of Oakland City,
passed into the arms of our heavenly father Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.
Ruth was born Oct. 24, 1914 in Pike County to John and Leona Brown.
She lived most of her life in the Oakland City
area.
She will always be remembered for her love
of life and for the deep love she felt for her family. One of her favorite
pastimes was playing her harmonica. Ruth was a long-time member of the First
General Baptist Church of Oakland City. She also retired from Potter &
Brumfield.
Ruth is survived by a daughter-in-law,
Mary Lou Comer; grandchildren, Mark (Kathy) Comer, Barbara (Pat) Bills, Kenneth
(Nancy) Cochrane, Jeanette (Tracy) Houchins, Jennifer (Jeff)
Brown; many great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Charles Comer, who was a WWII veteran who died in combat in Italy. Also preceding her was a son, Charles Comer, a
daughter, Judy Cochrane; and a grandson, Roger Cochrane.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City
with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday at Corn-Colvin
Funeral Home.
