Charles W. Allen, 76, of Fort Branch, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 at the Waters in Princeton,

Born Sept. 21, 1933 in Gibson County, he was the son of George and Agnes M. (Bruce) Allen.

He was retired from Old Ben Coal Mine No. 1. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Evansville Iron Street Rod Club since 1974, and the Fort Branch Lions Club.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Fournier of Haubstadt; a brother, Jerauld Allen of Fort Branch; sister, Connie Hornbach of Granger; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Fougnies) Allen in 2009; and his sister, Vivian Hineman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, with the Rev. Tammy Scheller officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch. Military services will be conducted at the graveside by the VFW Post 2714.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral Home and again from noon until service time on Friday.
