Melinda Sue "Mindy" VanMeter, 49 of rural Somerville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 19, 2010 at home.

Mindy was born April 18, 1961 in Princeton. She attended Indiana University for one year and Vincennes University for two years, studying computer programming and accounting. She married Rick VanMeter on Aug. 22, 1987. She worked at K-mart, Patoka Bank, American General, Ascension Health and CSC. She was a member of the Mackey Salem United Methodist Church. Mindy loved to work in her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband, Rick; son, Keith; daughter, Nicole; mother, Mary Lou Collins; and brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Pam Collins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin "Bootie" Collins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with the Rev. Matt Malin officiating. Burial will be at Somerville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
